Sheriff Oliver “Glenn” Boyer announces the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will be offering a “Sheriff’s Citizens Academy” class beginning September 7, 2010 through November 23, 2010. Classes will be held at the Sheriff’s Office in Hillsboro on Tuesday nights from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm for a twelve-week period.  Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.  Class size is limited to 30 students.  This will be the 24th class since the inception of the program.
 

The purpose of the “Sheriff’s Citizens Academy” is to increase a better understanding between citizens and the Sheriff’s Office through education.  Course topics include different aspects of police work, ranging from administrative functions, narcotics, investigations, tactical teams, firearms, and jail functions, traffic & road patrol, and K-9. 

 

There are no costs to attend, however pre-registration is required.
