RESEARCH ANALYST

     The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking a full-time Research Analyst to work in conjunction with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the Jefferson County Municipal Enforcement Group.

Duties:

     The analyst will perform a variety of tasks in an intelligence office with the primary duty to facilitate and administer de-confliction intelligence information from the Mid-West HIDTA participating law enforcement agencies.  The Research Analyst will analyze methamphetamine crimes as well as other related crimes and will provide various case support and intelligence duties, to include: conducting criminal intelligence database inquiries, open source database searches, maintaining/creating databases, coordinating intelligence from outside sources, and maintaining criminal intelligence files.

Education/Experience:

     Entry level requires analytical skills: Intermediate ability in database, spreadsheet, and word processing applications and proficiency in data entry.  Mastery of database, spreadsheet, and graphics application, a Bachelors Degree and two years experience in law enforcement/military intelligence or crime analyst experience preferred.  Applicants possessing an Associates Degree with five years experience in law enforcement/military intelligence will be considered.

Other requirements:

    Knowledge of research methods and procedures                                                                                                                                      

    Knowledge of basic mathematics and standard statistical methods and their application to the analysis and evaluation of                 social, economic, and other data

    Familiarity with automated office equipment: computers, printers, telephones, fax machines, copiers, dictating equipment, binders, and calculators

    Ability to organize and prioritize work 

   Ability to read and comprehend technical narrative material, including manuals, handbooks, and instructional memoranda for application to daily work

   Ability to organize and clearly express information in concise written form

    Ability to communicate information and or instruction and or instructions orally

    Be able to design and generate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports as prescribed

    The Research Analyst will be hired and administered by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.  Background investigation, drug testing, and CVSA are required.

   THIS IS A CONTRACTUAL POSITION BASED ON A YEAR-TO-YEAR BASIS, AND IS SUBJECT TO RENEWAL ANNUALLY.
