Deputy William Myers

July 31, 1980

Deputy Myers was seriously wounded by gunfire while encountering an armed gunman, in a hostage situation.  Deputy Myers was confined to a wheelchair as a result of his wounds.  He succumbed to his injuries on July 31, 1980.   His son, Cpl. Wm. "Butch" Myers, is presently employed with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, following in his fathers footsteps.
