Arrest Warrant Scam

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous inquiries from residents in our community regarding suspicious telephone calls they have received. The telephone calls consist of unknown person(s) identifying themselves as Deputy Sheriff’s with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. These unknown person(s) inform the resident the resident failed to appear for “Jury Duty”, which has resulted in a warrant for the resident’s arrest. These unknown person(s) provide a return telephone contact number for the resident. When contacted this computer-generated telephone number indicates to the caller/resident they have reached the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division.

If you receive a telephone call, which you believe to be suspicious, discontinue the call by simply cancelling the telephone call. Never provide your personal information or financial (credit card) information to someone whom you do not know. 

Report suspicious calls by contacting the Jefferson County 911 Dispatching Center’s non-emergency line at (636) 797-9999. Or contact a Deputy during business hours at our North Zone Office (636) 797-6216 or East Zone Office (636) 797-6405.

The actual motive(s) of theses unknown person(s) are not evident at this time. The unknown person(s) may be attempting to obtain your credit card information or your personal information to steal your identity.
