Jojo Thorton
Jail Administrator

Jojo Thorton has served as the Jefferson County jail administrator since January 2023. He started his career at Jefferson County in 2019 as a detention officer. He then in February 2022 became a reserve deputy for Jefferson County. Thorton is a certified pepper ball instructor and a certified jail school instructor for Jefferson County as well.

Administration Assistants


Administrative staff register all sex and violent offenders and process / file warrants, extradition paperwork and civil papers. They also take care of the department’s accounting and billing issues.

Finger print services are offered at the Jefferson County Jail. Persons must be 18 or older. (Children are not allowed to accompany their parents during the process).

Ryan Robison - Patrol Sergeant

Sergeant Ryan Robison has served with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office since April 2016. He has a total of 15 years law enforcement experience. He previously served in the US Army and is a combat veteran. In his spare time, he enjoys time with his family.

Captain Jason Hutcheson

Captain Jason Hutcheson is a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and a 2nd generation law enforcement for Jefferson County.

Hutcheson started his law enforcement career on June 1, 1998 at Jefferson County.

During his career he has accumulated endless hours of training, including areas of sex crimes, narcotics, fire investigations, drug interdiction, advanced rural crime investigations and holds an Investigator Academy Certificate. He is also an Intermediate Peace Officer with CLEET, a Glock Armorer and a Field Training Officer (FTO). Captain Hutcheson enjoys spending time with his family, friends and hunting in his spare time. He feels it is a privilege to serve Jefferson County.

Sergeant James Harper

Sergeant James Harper joined Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in July 2019, took a 6 month retirement then re-joined us in January 2021.

He has more than thirty years of experience in conducting Criminal Investigations. He has specialized training in crime scene processing, Homicide and Fraud Investigations, video and photographic analysis, and interview and interrogation techniques. His duties include responding to initial complaints, photographing/documenting crime scenes, collecting and processing evidence, conducting per-disposition interviews, presenting cases for prosecution and testifying in Federal, State, and Tribal courts.
